Formed in 1967 the Grafton Art Club continues to provide a welcoming environment for local artists to meet and share their passion for creative endeavours. Focusing on landscapes of the Clarence Valley, this exhibition gives the members the opportunity to celebrate the clubs 50th anniversary.

Continuing the celebration of the Grafton Art Clubs 50th Anniversary, this exhibition presents works selected from across the gallery’s collection by current or past members of the Grafton Art Club. The diversity and artistic strength fostered by the Grafton Art Club is clearly on show

Westlawn Finance Queen Crowning Ceremony

Watch as the Jacaranda Queen is crowned under the canopy of Jacaranda Trees.

A traditional and regal evening which is the opening event to the 9-day Jacaranda calendar. An event not be missed where we witness the crowning of the Jacaranda Queen and the Jacaranda Queens Party.

The Saturday begins with the Jacaranda Children’s Morning and then moves onto the Jacaranda locally made markets under the cooling canopy of Jacaranda trees. Stay on in the afternoon to watch local entertainment, where from 6pm we move into the ceremony element of day one of the Jacaranda Festival for 2017.

During the Queen Crowning, watch in delight as the traditional ceremony pays respect to the 2016 Jacaranda Queens Party, listen to the Guest of Honour for 2017 and behold the little girls dancing the homage to the Jacaranda Queen’s Crown before the 2017 Jacaranda Queen is crowned. Join us at the GDSC afterwards and enjoy a light supper to finish off the festivities.


“Flowers By Bonnie” will be holding a make your own flower crown workshops during the afternoon of the Queen Crowning Ceremony. If you would love to be part of this magical event, be quick! Spaces are limited. Please call the Flowers By Bonnie team on 0266 432 160 to reserve your space. Classes begin from 4pm and will run every 30 mins up until 6:30pm. Parade of Youth and Banner Competition

A parade of youth from Schools and Community Groups across the Clarence Valley, proudly carrying banners they have designed in response to this years’  theme – ‘Grafton Bridge 85 Years’. The parade starts at the River end of Prince Street to Market Square. The banners will be displayed at Grafton Shoppingworld for the remainder of the Jacaranda week.

Beautiful Baby Photo Competition

Registrations open and photos are to be taken by Grafton Fast Photos from Monday 25 September until Thursday 12 October at 5pm. Phone 6642 5577 or call into 46 Prince Street, Grafton to arrange an appointment for your Baby’s professional photo.

Entries will be available online soon or at Grafton Fast Photos, Entry Fee is $15.00 and includes a digital professional photograph and a printed photograph of your beautiful baby to keep.  Entry Forms can be lodged with the Entry Fee at Grafton Fast Photos when you have your baby’s photograph taken. Regrettably, no late entries will be accepted.

Photos will be displayed on the Grafton Jacaranda Festival Facebook Page and at Grafton Fast Photos from Monday 16 October-Thursday 26 October 2017.

All are invited to vote for the Beautiful Baby of their choice, with voting closing on Thursday 26 October at 5pm. Please voting on Facebook is free, voting at Grafton Fast Photos is $1.00 per vote

These races are Grafton Dragon Boat Clubs’ annual regatta featuring competitive clubs from NSW and QLD. We also have numerous community teams competing featuring many organizations and businesses from the Grafton region. Experience the excitement of watching crews of 22 racing down a 200 metre course side by side better still organise your own team, it’s great company team building. The regatta is in it’s 12th year and is the largest regional regatta in NSW.

A great colourful event to watch from the riverbank and enjoy a coffee from one of the food vendors.

Back again in 2017, the Jacaranda Busker’s competition gives artists the chance to sing their way into the hearts of locals and tourists alike.

Busk in front of a business shopfront to earn money & media exposure PLUS earn the title of ‘Jacaranda Busker 2017’. The winner will have the chance to showcase their talent at the Jacaranda River Festival FEAST on Saturday the 4th Nov. The Jacaranda Busker for 2017, will WIN a live ‘unplugged’ video and sound recording with CastNet Productions to the value of $2,500, that you will own and can distribute over all social media platforms – this can be filmed in any of your favourite locations in Grafton.

The Grafton CBD is a hive of activity on Jacaranda Thursday. Begin the day with a delicious breakfast brought to you by Radio 2GF and The Independent, providing their annual FREE breakfast in Market Square. The Independent will once again challenge 2GF to see who are the breakfast master chefs!

Market Square will be packed with vendors, amusements and a live radio broadcast whilst you listen to the performances from the Jacaranda Buskers Competition. From 8am, markets line Prince Street with a vast range of products for you to browse.

Whilst you enjoy the roving entertainment, ensure that you pop into the many local shops that are immersed in the fun of Jacaranda Thursday and dress up their stores and team members to different themes.

Lunchtime in Market Square is not to be missed, grab lunch at the food vendors and settle in to watch as local businesses entertain us, with their creativity and talent competing for the highly-coveted Jacaranda Gold Cup. Performances begin at 1pm.

Jacaranda Thursday is one day not to be missed, where the town comes alive and shows us how Grafton is fun, beautiful and a little bit crazy.

A showcase of Clarence Valley’s local talent with singers, dancers and entertainment to surprise and delight you. Enjoy various scrummy food options whilst you take in the show on the big screen. As well as enjoying local onstage entertainment, The Pitt Family Circus will surprise and delight.

Watch as Grafton’s CBD comes awash with a riot of colour and sound for the annual Float Procession down the main street of Grafton.

Consisting of approx. 60 clubs, schools and local organisations – each parading vehicles decorated to the theme of ‘purple’.

Stay afterwards and enjoy the “Jacaranda Festival Feast” event at Memorial Park, River end of Prince Street. Entries are available to download HERE

Feast, is an event for the tastebuds! Enjoy locally crafted beer and wine, delicious locally sourced produce and listen to the sounds coming from the Riverbank’s stage. During the evening, the lucky winner of the Festival’s major raffle will be drawn. The first prize winner will walk away and enjoy sailing in a Stacer Proliner Boat! The Feast event will pause whilst the Summerland Credit Union Float Parade makes it journey down Prince Street and then will recommence once finished, Approx 6pm.

A night to enjoy and relax after your week of Jacaranda fun and festivities. Enjoy gourmet foodie truck heaven, brought to you by The Design Collective as recently featured at the Yamba Golf & Country Club event.

Grafton used to be a bike town. Everyone had a bike….. And the whole town would go to the races at one of the two cycle tracks, Fisher or McKittrick Park. Times have changed and the tracks closed down many years ago, but the memories of the hey day of cycling live on in the minds and scrapbooks of the mighty Wheelmen of the Clarence! Vintage bike display and DVD’s available for purchase.

Enjoy running under the canopy of the Jacaranda Trees!


Exciting news again this year! Due to the overwhelming success from last years event, we will start the Fun Run from Memorial Park, Prince Street. Come along with your friends and family for a Jacaranda Fun Run morning and enjoy the magnificent view of the Jacaranda Trees, whilst completing an invigorating morning run (or walk!)

Start times are as follows:

**10km at 7am

**5km at 8am

**2.4km at 9am


Racer bibs can be collected early this year, for your convenience and can be collected from:

**Park Run, Junction Hill on Saturday the 4th November

**Telstra Riverlight Festival on Friday the 3rd November at Memorial Park


We encourage you to register online, however you can register at either of these pick-up points. And, of course you can still register on the day from 6am until 6:45am (there is an additional $5 fee to the entry cost) Your Jacaranda Fun Run registration fee also include your Fun Run Goodie bag!

After the Fun Run, enjoy some time on the river with Dave Outdoor Adventures, who will be there for you to hire a kayak and cool down with a paddle down the magnificent Clarence River.
