2017 Iscream Junior Queen Candidates

IScream Junior Queen Candidates Grafton Jacaranda Festival

Nominating to become a IScream Junior Queen Candidate provides a platform for the candidate to grow as a person, to develop a rapport with the local community and to also learn valuable new skills, essential in today’s competitive business environment. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity, filled with wonderful memories and a journey they’ll never forget.

Drawing from the support of sponsors, festival committee and the community, candidates learn how to plan and manage events and undertake promotional activity. They are mentored in public speaking, negotiating sponsorships and fundraising.

Meet this year’s Junior contestants:

Tahlia O’Hara

Tahlia O Hara Jacaranda Junior Queen Candidate

My name is Tahlia O’Hara, I am 13 years old and attend South Grafton High School. I am nominated by Pollack Greening & Hampshire Solicitors and Conveyancers.

I love to play netball. I play in a Saturday team as well as in a rep team. During the rep season I train three times a week, play and umpire on a Saturday and have a lot of carnivals on Sundays in the lead up to the State Age Championships. I also play for the school when teams are formed for school competitions. I just can’t get enough netball.

I entered the Junior Jacaranda Queen competition to become more involved in the festival and community and to gain self-confidence. I am looking forward to meeting new people, helping to raise funds for the jacaranda committee and all the wonderful events.

I own 2 horses, Raymond and Kacey and have ridden competitively for nearly 7 years. I have raced speedway for 1 year and plan to race again this year.

I also enjoy many different styles of art and I love reading. It doesn’t matter what genre just so long as it’s a book. I love listening to music and spending time with my friends.

I was always interested in joining the Jacaranda quest, as while I was growing up I seemed to find myself looking up to the candidates because it is such an amazing tradition and an awesome way to get out and about in the community and to help promote our lovely festival.

I hope that another little girl will look up to us and see us in the same way as I did. And besides, what little girl doesn’t dream of being a princess.
